Bluegrass!

On Saturday I went to the Summergrass in Vista. It's a 3 day bluegrass festival located about 40 miles south down in San Diego County. I went last year, and it was awesome, so I went again this year and took Amy along as she was in town for a few days. We are back together, as much as you can be when you live hundreds of miles apart. She left for Salt Lake City on Tuesday morning, where she will be starting her new job at Children's Hospital.

Anyway, the headlining band was a branch of the Navy band, called Country Current. So Rone, why doesn't the Army have a Bluegrass Band? They were really good, and the surprising thing was that they did a lot of original tunes that the band members had written. I don't know if this is their main gig, or if it's a little side project. The Band leader had been playing in the group for 34 years. I've got some pictures of them as well as the other bands posted here.

One of the highlights of the day was the "dancing" kid. He started off dancing in the back on the concrete pad, but slowly gained confidence and by the afternoon was up by the stage dancing in front of everyone. I'm not even sure it counts as dancing, as it looks like he's trying to kick bugs more than anything else. The lady dancing with him was also entertaining to watch.
