You know what stinks?
Getting about 5 hours of sleep thursday night due to a hectic schedule of work, soccer tryouts, mock trial performance (I'm the faculty advisor for the club) and then dance practice.
You know what stinks more?
Going to bed at 11p.m. on Friday night in an attempt to catch up on sleep, only to inexpicably awake at 6:30a.m. saturday morning and then being unable to fall back asleep. Normally this wouldn't be a huge deal, but Saturday was...
Dance-A-Thon: The 24 hour team dance event, much like a walk-a-thon, but with someone on the team always having to be dancing. Shesha (dance team coach and ocswing.com guy) decided to put together a fund raiser last year. It was succesful, so it was repeated again this year. With some donations still being verified, he was able to make out a check for $88,000 to City of Hope, which does cancer research.
So from 10:30a.m. (I was there 30 minutes after it started.) Saturday until 10:00a.m. Sunday I hung out at the Boys and Girls club of Irvine, CA and danced my heiny (did I spell that right?) off. There were tons of live bands, pros teaching fun lessons, and people dj-ing. My feet are killing me, and that's after I spent 15 minutes with the foot massager that the team next to us so wisely brought. I slept for about 2 hours so it wasn't an all-nighter, but it felt like it. And let me just throw down a plug for Full Throttle energy drink. When you're low on sleep, tired from 11 hours of off and on dancing, and you've got to get the energy up for a performance, that stuff will give you enough gas to perform, get robbed in your quest to win a t-shirt hacking/design contest, and still leave you with enough gas in the tank to swing out so hard to The Fabulous Esquires mindblowing second set that you sweat through two shirts, a head band, and wrist bands, all while leaving a trail of exhausted women in your wake because, yes, you will dance three straight songs with tempos above 200bpm without doing any balboa to catch your breath, although you may kick some charleston in, because let's face it, kicking like crazy just makes for a good time on the dance floor. Only problem was that then I couldn't really rotate through the rags and drags class, because as a gentleman, I didn't feel the need to subject unfamiliar women to closed position with tight connection to my sweat soaked shirt. Luckily, I have no problem, doing this to familiar women, so I still did the class.
Tomorrow, my classes may prove to be a challenge.
And the best part is:

Yeah, I know there aren't many. Look, it's not like I can take pictures of myself while dancing.

Green sweatshirt, then on the right, and then in the back, and then the middle, and then sort of the left. Look, you'll just have to keep track of me yourself.
