Growing up spring was my favorite season. That may have something to do with my April birthday, but it continued after I got older and stopped caring about birthdays. At this point I was in Utah, and still loved spring, although Utah doesn't really have much of a spring, which was annoying.
There are two reasons I really love spring. The first is warm and sunny weather, with a few clouds and maybe some rain. Summer tends to just be too hot. The second is that spring leads to a mental awakening. People come out of their mental slumber and start doing stuff. There are things happening.
In southern California, it's not so much spring, but summer, when these two things really happen. The weather is gorgeous. It's warm during the day, and cools off in the evenings. There are bonfires at the beach, the surf in Orange County picks up great south swells, community concerts and tons of other fun stuff. People get out and do stuff and life becomes about enjoying the day. Oh yeah, and I don't work during the summer.

I love summer too (but have decided that I hate June in NY...too much rain.)
I like spring for some of the same reasons. But all year is good since we don't work any of it.
