I'm still waiting for summer

Southern California has a typical late spring weather pattern called the southern California eddy. Southwest winds swirl around Point Conception, pushing the marine layer onto the coast, resulting in gray skies in the morning. It is referred to as May gray or June gloom, depending on the month, usually burns of by late morning, and lasts a few weeks. However, this year it has been more persistent. Here at the coast the cloud cover hasn't even been burning off most days. We have had rain the last couple of nights, which is extremely rare for this time of year. Most notably, the daily high temp has been below daily average for over three weeks now. I've been wearing a jacket fairly regularly and am still sleeping under blankets with the windows closed at night. I am missing summer.
