League play

soccer season continues to chug along. We just finished our first round of league play and we are 4 out of 5 teams. It's been tough for me to deal with the losses, but considering this is the weakest team I have ever coached, it's not all that surprising. We had our first ever JV boys soccer loss to Whitney in the history of the school, and the worst loss I have ever coached against our big rival, St. Margarets. Here is a short bio on some of my top players: My best defender has never played soccer before. He is a lacrosse player and he's fast, aggressive, and can make contact with the ball. We play with two midfielders in the center and one of them hasn't played soccer since he was 7. The other has never played on a soccer team before. He learned to play during recess and lunch at school, and after school with friends. I have 1, that's right 1, player who has been playing competitive soccer for several years. He's my starting keeper and he has already locked down MVP for the season. At least practice has been fun.
