This just got interesting...

So at the start of this week I had a meeting concerning my contract for next year. In order to fill out my class load I was given the opportunity to teach a math class, most likely calculus. I have been looking to expand into teaching math for a few years, so this is a great opportunity. The down side is that it would be another additional prep, so I would be teaching 5 periods, with 4 different preps. That can be a lot of work, especially since three of the preps are science classes. I mentioned that I am looking into other job opportunities, in a not so serious way, largely because I don't really want to live in SoCal anymore for reasons of expense, # of other people, and such. Getting married also has something to do with it, as though there are plenty of well-educated, active interesting singles in California, I just don't care anymore.

That same day a school in Louisville KY that I had viewed as a possibility got in touch with me. I had a Skype interview with the head this morning and things went very well. The school is very similar to Sage and seems to be a great fit. I colleague from years ago at Sage now lives there and loves it. It almost seems like i can have the same working experience in a less expensive, less populated, but still cosmopolitan (I swear, Louisville is. It's sort of like Austin TX) area.

They want to fly me out there this week for a full interview. We're checking flights to see if Collyn can come out as well, so we can check things out together. At this point, it looks like a fantastic opportunity, so there is now the likely possibility of us moving. Of course, I still need to be offered the job, and it still needs to pay me enough.

That's driving distance from us :-). (A long drive but still a drive.) Do they have swing dancing? Thanks for filling us in.

There is apparently a small scene. It will be nothing like here, either in terms of size or caliber of dancing, but I'm willing to work to build it. There is always getting high school kids involved...

Woo Hoo! That is totally exciting. I hope that everything goes well in the interview. It sounds like it could be a great opportunity for you! It won't get you any closer to us but that's why we have airplanes.

You'll have to learn to pronounce it properly. Say "Lollvoll".
