We traded in Collyn's Isuzu Rodeo to the State of California today, for $1000. After many years and 186,000 miles, of which about 100,000 were Collyn's, it had reached the point of too much stuff too deal with, especially since we are moving. It was at that point where it was acquiring a "personality" in lieu of dependability.
The interesting thing about turning it in, is that all of our remaining transportation is mine: The car, the motorcycle, the bicycle and the razor scooter. But for my good graces, she goes walking. I'm pretty nice though, so when she works early or late, I let her take the razor scooter if she doesn't want to take the bus.
All kidding aside, with it being summer and with me getting ready to sell the motorcycle, she's been doing most of the driving and I just ride the bicycle if she has the car.

The image of her taking the razor scooter instead of the bus made me laugh.
That's a pretty funny way of looking at it, but is quite a good litmus test as my experience confirms. When a car starts developing a "personality" it's probably time to get rid of it. I'm thinking of "The Orange Beast" (self-explanatory) here. Or, "The Slut" (She's been around the block so many times ... everyone gets a free ride ... etc.), as the brown Nissan became to be known.
