First week

It was busy. It wasn't just that I had every class everyday, as the daily schedule is a 7 period day, but due to soccer games I was out of school as the day ended, and then out late. This left precious little time for banal things like photocopying, although I did manage to get my classes planned on the vital things taken care of. The kids are great and the school community is outgoing and welcoming, so if I can just get a little more time to enjoy it, I think I will really like it here. Collyn has already made friends with some of the other teachers due to shared interest in writing so despite spending most of her days alone with the cat, she isn't feeling completely disconnected.

The varsity had tournament games this week, making it to the final tonight. It was a tough game that was very evenly matched. We lost 1-0 on a keeper error early in the game. The rest of the game was a battle mostly contained within the midfield. It was rough and physical with several cards and a lot of fouls. Each team managed a few good shots, but the keepers were making great saves. So, even though they ended up placing second and having to settle for a plaque instead of a very nice looking trophy, both the players and coaches were perfectly happy with the game.
