End of the season

The jv soccer season ended today with a tournament. Group play was last weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and we did well enough to make the semifinals. We lost our game this morning. I won't go into details because I still want to kill a couple of the kids. That put us into the 3rd place game. We were matched against a team we had beaten 2-0 early in the season. However, this time we were playing them with a 1 hour break between games, and missing two of our best players. Then, within the first 15 minutes our three midfielders, arguably the best guys playing on the pitch for us, had to sit out the rest of the half. One had some major cramps and missed the rest of the game. Another pulled a hamstring but was eventually able to go back in. The third took an elbow to the eye. He was able to go back in after icing it, but had a nice mouse thunder his eye that made him look like a boxer. We hung on for 0-0 at the half, and midway through the second, with 2 of our starting midfield back in the game, scored on a nice little through ball. That was enough to win, so we ended the season by getting a little trophy. Varsity soccer starts their KHSAA tournament run next week. It's win or go home, so the season could be over this week, or go for another four. However, after 4 consecutive weekends of soccer, and one to two days a week of double games keeping me busy from 3-8 on the home games and 3-9:30 on away games, it's going to feel a lot lighter. The school quarter also ended this weekend. That means I'm spending the weekend writing comments. Fingers crossed that next weekend I actually get a weekend. If the nice weather holds we may go camping.
