Online shopping and ads.

So I've been doing a significant amount of researching products and shopping online.  It's not exciting stuff:  composters, rugs, toilets, patio pavers, a bed, etc.  I use google to search because it works well for me and it's easy and I'm used to how it is laid out.  Google Ad-sense on the other hand...

This is the software that is supposed to help businesses by providing personalized ads that are more applicable to the individual.  Except, at least in my case, it doesn't work.  All it does is show me ads of the exact same things I've looked at.  If I spent 30 minutes browsing through various bicycle manufacturer websites I will start seeing ads for bikes on unrelated pages that use adsense.  However, sense google already tends to bump paid results to the top of their list, I've already looked at the exact products that show up in adsense.  When I look at rugs, I don't then need to keep seeing the exact same rugs that I looked at from the same maufacturer's site that I already visited, especially since I may have already bought the rug.  (Don't tell google, but I didn't.  I wonder if blogger scans my blog for keywords?)

I google was really smart what they would do is show me ads for vacuums, or rug cleaner.  In the case of bicycles, they could show me ads for some cycle gear, or lights or nearby service shops.  That may actually be helpful to the consumer and profitable for the business.  Currently, all that happens is I do my best to completely ignore the right side of many web pages, and after I get really annoyed I clear my browser cache and then go search for beautiful sailboats in the hope of creating some eye candy.
