Not much happening, which is why I haven't updated in a while. The one funny story I have is when one of the life guards at Strands tried to tell me I had to move (after a surfer asked her to have the body boarder move). I called her on it. She told me they had changed the blackball regs, I asked for her supervisor, she said she was one, I again asked for her supervisor. She called him on the radio, and when he got there he proceeded to tell me that I was right and it was a risky area because of the rocks so just be aware and careful. When she tried asking him a loaded question to safe face about them changing the blackball, he iterated that it only applied to swimmers, notably kids, and that I was free to go out wherever I wanted. The worst part is this isn't the first time that a lifeguard at that tower has been a little overzealous in their "enforcement" of safety.
I spent last Saturday night and Sunday morning in L.A. Collyn was at a writer's conference and invited me up for their big outdoor dinner and dance party. It was a lot of fun. The crowd runs on the older side, and the dj and mc did a good job of matching the music, by which I mean that they played a bunch of stuff I danced to in high school.
Collyn's gone for the next week to her sister's wedding Bellingham. I am meeting her up their for the ceremony and reception next weekend, which is the start of a string of weekend adventures. My schedule looks like this:
next weekend: Bellingham
Saturday after that: Vista Bluegrass festival
Weekend after that: Weekend dance camp
Weekend after that: nothing thus far, because it's the first weekend after classes start up again.
Weekend after that: Camping at Palomar
Sad that I have only a few weeks of summer left. At least I've put it to good use.
